туристов (Tourists) for a day

St. Basil's Cathedral
St. Basil's Cathedral
On one of our earlier trips in Krasnodar, I overheard some guys on the street say what sounded like 'touristas.'  I figured they had decided 'ya'll aren't from around here.'  If they only knew how far this journey has been from a vacation!  Today we had the opportunity to see Red Square.  So we were tourists this afternoon, and went to see the Kremlin, and St. Basil's Cathedral.  Our facilitator, grew up here, and heard Stalin speak the same year he died from his father's shoulders in this square.  He was five at the time.  Lots of interesting history in this place.
The entire area was paved with black cobble stones.  They reminded me of the black basalt in New Mexico.  Kind of a challenge pushing a stroller across, made for a bumpy ride for Vera.  She never complained about moving, only when we stop does she take issue with our driving!  One of the buildings was a mall where we had some yummy Soviet Union era food.  Vera had kefir, sort of a yogurt/milk type of drink.  Apparently, this is what she was getting before bed time we were told.  She slurped it up right out of the glass.  No sippy cup needed!  Jennie had pelmeni, one of her new favorites.  That will be one of the items on our 'Gotcha Day' celebration menu.  I had what tasted like a chicken-fried pork chop, and some stroganoff pasta.  We also tried 'Prague cake.'
I can't wait to see how my panoramas turn out, hopefully I'll end up with a few good ones.  We got some cool video too, just so happened, the clock was chiming 5 o'clock while I was videoing it.  It was a windy day, just above freezing, a nice day for March!  We might have stayed longer if it weren't for the wind.
